After Hurricane Lili's eye passed
over Alexandria, La on Thursday Tom Shockley pushed the tournament
back a day and every one fished Saturday and Sunday. Ninety-three
anglers survived the storm to fish the event they had really
nice weather for the event parily cloudy skies and temps in
the 80's.
Day one left leaders Wes Gregory and Rickey Smith of North
Central Louisiana wondering if the could hold off two Arkansas
teams less than 11/2 lbs behind.
Alan Petlak and James Hooks of Sherwood, Ar used long-range
tactics to win the U.S.Anglers Choice Central regional. Traveling
70 miles one-way. They used Norman DLN's on rocks on day one
and Bagley DKB1 on wood on day 2.
First place winners of 2 Bass Cat Pantera Classics rigged
with 200 hp Mercury Outboards with Motorguide trolling motors,
Lowrance electronics and Hamby's keel protectors.
Terry Hopson of Pine Buff and Jack Broach of Hutting used
a jig, frog and a crank bait at St.Maurice to weigh 20.54lbs
for second.
Second place winner's receiver a Bass Cat Saber with a 150EFI
Mercury Outboard with Motorguide trolling motor, Lowrance
electronics and a Hamby's Keel Protector.
Third received $5000 out of side
pot money paid by the fishermen/
Big Bass was 5.82 lbs worth $500caught
by Wes Gregory and Ricky Smith
