With an overcast sky and
scattered showers, 27 boats blasted off at safe light
to begin our first tournament of the season. Fishing
the tournament alone, with engine trouble, Greg Yamagato
trolled in an hour early with what turned out to be
a limit of fish worthy of first place. Yamagato took
home $1275 for first place and $180 for the Red, White
and Blue option. When asked how he managed to pull off
10.72 pounds under those conditions he replied, "pure
luck I guess." Second place went to Dale Devlin
and James Hansen. These guys did great last year and
it looks like they intend to keep the streak going.
With 4 fish for a total of 9.19 they took home $785
including option money. In third place was John Shook
and Mike Seligman. With 4 fish for a total of 8.75,
they took home $475. Team Branscum took 4th place with
a limit of fish totaling 8.40, Ron and Dan won $555
including option money. The fifth place team of Greg
Cyphers and Mike Hess took home $325 for 3 fish worth
5.38 pounds. Pat Davis and Gene Mestas won Big Bass
for a 5.38 pound whopper Pat caught in 25 foot of water
with a Carolina Rig. They took home $300 for Big Bass
and an additional $150 for sixth place thanks to our
tournament sponsor, Arizona Bass Sports.
Thanks to the following sponsors we were not only able
to have higher payouts, but were able to raffle off
over $1000 worth of product during the awards ceremony:
Arizona Bass Sports, Okuma, Edge Products, Dry Dock
Boat Sales, Emerald Suites, Hot Sauce Gel,. Laker Plaza,
Mad Man, Flying Fisherman, Pepper Jigs, Mestas Roofing,
J.R. Trolling Motors, L.C. Cabinetry, J. R. Baits, Lake
Mead Lounge, Adaven Rod and Reel Repair, TQM Baits,
Kelly Craft and Trojan Batteries.
Thank you anglers for a great turnout and as always
good sportsmanship! We look forward to seeing you in
April.
