Barrack
and Ball Win Delta Again
Lundborg Landing hosted the
California Delta Region 3rd event of the year as the team
of Bobby Barrack and Chris Ball vaulted to their first victory
of the year as the warm afternoon conditions and low tide
allowed the pair to get a couple of those frog bites that
has propelled them to victory in the past.
The pair admittedly struggles in the spring
but their work ethic combined with right weather and tide
conditions proved to be enough to put together an impressive
limit of 25.10 pounds and earned them $1515 dollars, which
included their Solar Bat contingency money of $100. A 7.20-pound
big fish anchored their winning bag. They used Blades and
plastics before getting the opportunity to toss frogs.
In second place with a beautiful bag weighing
24.03 pounds, the team of Jason Brown and Luke Ellison. The
pairs limit was anchored by a 6.98 pound big fish and earned
them $705 dollars for their efforts.
The always-tough team of Steve Sapp and John
Varanai put together their usual solid limit, no big fish,
and just another solid limit of 23.06 pounds. The team used
plastics most of the day to put together their moneymaking
combination
Rounding out the top five was Steve Flanders and Mike Saso
with 21.82-pounds and Dee Thomas and Jeff Chauvet with 21.66
pounds. Big fish honors went to the team of Robert Fergers
and Carl Keller, their 9.87 pound bass earned them $450 dollars.
The use of the Lundborg Landing facility worked
out very well as compared to some of the other locations on
the delta anglers are more familiar with. The central location
gives anglers the chance to run just about wherever they would
like with little effort. Even Barrack remarked about the location
" It's Great, 11 minutes form the Big Break area and
just 17 minutes to run south, I really like using this facility,
I use it all time for my guide trips". Location was only
part of the "perks" of using this facility; the
staff is very fisherman friendly and improving all of the
time. If you haven't tried launching here check it out, it
is yet another resort on the rebound here on the Delta.
