The U.S. Angler's Choice East Delta 2004 season
started in November 2003 with a great showing and payback.
A total of 43 teams arrived early for some complimentary hot
coffee and doughnuts as they prepared for a great day of fishing.
The weather was overcast but not too cold, a good setting
for some great fishing. Blast-off was from Ladds Marina
at safe light and the weigh-in was at 3:00pm at Dads Point
by Pixie Woods. The Dads Point weigh-in allowed the fishermen
to release their fish in a more diverse environment to ensure
the best odds for survival.
Coming to the scales with the largest bag
and capturing first place was the team of Bill Durbin &
Mike Birch. Landing a total of 16.99lbs, it was good for
a big check of $1,980. Second place went to Bob Fergusen
& Thomas Fisher with a good limit weighing 15.87lbs
anchored with a giant 9.07lb bass. They took home $1,140
for their efforts. Their payback could have been bigger
had they gotten into the $10 & $20 options. Maybe next
time!
Lorenzo Rossetti & John Rossetti, winners of 2003 Northwest
Champions were grateful for this oversight as they took
third place with a weight of 15.64lbs netting them $950.
Delta aces Bill Swearingen Jr. and Peter Rehrman brought
in a solid limit weighing 14.75lbs, good for forth place
and $705. Although his partner John Harper couldnt
make the event, Cris VanClef fished by himself and had no
problem weighing in 14.36lbs and collecting $420 for fifth
place. Sixth place went to Thomas Sharp & Bill Murray
with 13.18 lbs and a nice check of $350. Seventh went to
the popular Ish Monroe & Zack Thompson with a 12.47lb
bag good for $315. Rounding out the field in eighth place
was the team of Hose & Kevin Looper, a local favorite.
Their weight of 12.39 got them a check for $245. Along with
cash, each team took home a pair of plaques from Wilson
Trophy.
The majority of the fish were caught on
crankbaits, specifically Rattle Traps and Speed Traps with
jigs being the next best bait. The big fish of the event
came on a Yamamoto Senko and some fish were also reported
on drop shot rigs. The next tournament is January 24 at
Ladds with check-in starting a 4am. Call Danny Peluso
@ 209-874-9525 for more information.
