Tough bite on Watts Bar
It was an overcast and cool morning
when the best fishermen in East Tennessee gathered at Watts
Lake to fish the sixth event of 2002. Everyone was ready to
go fishing. Ralph Loveday and Frank Byrd brought 13.24 lbs.
of bass to the scales to win their second tournament of the
year. This smiling team reported catching their fish from
deep water on a jig.
Second place went to Carter Gasque
and Jeff Pack. This new team ran their Mercury powered boat
to the river to catch their fish. They weighed in 11.95 lbs.
and also had the lunker of the tournament a 3.56 lbs. largemouth.
Carter stated that most of their fish came on a crankbait.
Third place was a tie between
the team of Doug Reynolds and Tom Day and the team of Jeff
Rogers and Allen McKee. Both teams weighed in 7.92 lbs. of
bass. Doug and Tom reported catching their fish on a DD22
in 8 to 12 feet of water in the mid- section of Watts Bar
Lake.
Jeff Rogers reported catching
their fish on a worm. Jeff stated that they stayed in the
mid-section of Watts Bar Lake. This team had a limit before
11 A.M. Jeff and Allen would like to thank their sponsor M
