Harry
and Mike Catlett Win Cherokee
Written by Director Steve Jennings
December 14, 2002 marked the third tournament of the year
for Angler's Choice. The best fishermen in East Tennessee
gathered together to discuss how they were going to keep warm
for the next eight hours of the tournament. The weatherman
had predicted 25 MPH wind with sleet and snow mixed together
and this time he was right!
At the end of the day it was
Harry and Mike Catlett who persevered and overcame the nasty
weather to win their first Angler's Choice Tournament. This
father and son team did it with style by bringing a five fish
limit of all smallmouth to the scales that weighed 16.31 pounds.
They reported running their Skeeter bass boat to the mid-section
of the lake to catch their fish on a float and fly using a
technique developed by the great fishermen of East Tennessee
to catch those beautiful brown fish.
Second place went to a new team
of Nathan Light and Larry Fitzgerald. This talented team also
used a fly to catch their fish. They came to the scales with
a 13.97 pounds of fish. They also reported that they caught
over twenty fish over the course of the day.
Jeff Lee and Scott Orr came to
the scales with a five fish limit that weighed 11.12 pounds.
This team has been using plugs made by Clint Boling all year
to catch their fish. Apparently it is working since they have
a first, second and third place finish in the first three
tournaments of the year and they are still the point's leader
after three tournaments.
The lunker of the day went to
Randy Carroll and Mike Hobby with a beautiful 5.11 pound largemouth.
Randy said that they caught the fish on a crankbait. Randy
would like to thank Fred Karnes at The Fishing Place. If you
have never been to The Fishing Place Tackle Shop then give
Fred a call and get directions because he has a great store
that even has the Competitive Edge Tackle from the West Coast.
The Fishing Place Tackle Shop number is 865-922-3704
In closing Anger's Choice staff
would like to thank all the fishermen that came and battled
the elements to fish. All the fish were released alive to
fight again. GREAT JOB MEN. God bless everyone and have a
Merry Christmas and remember Christ is the reason for the
season.
Angler's Choice would also like to thank Dr. Greg Cook of
Appalachian Dental for his continued support. Our next tournament
will be on Fort Loudoun and Tellico Lake on February 22. For
