Cherokee Lake, TN
Burns And Smiley
Win Cherokee
It was a beautiful fall morning
as the best fishermen in the Southeast made their way to the
banks of beautiful Cherokee Lake. Cherokee is one the most
beautiful lakes in the Southeast with its steep rock banks
and the Great Smokey Mountains as the backdrop. The Lord had
blessed us with another beautiful day to fish and just be
alive.
Fishing is the only sport that
knows no limitations and that was proven Saturday when the
seasoned team of Bill Burns and Burl Smiley, both men over
fifty years old, took the rest of the Angler's Choice field
to school on how to fish the clear, fertile waters of Cherokee
lake. Bill and Burl came to the scales with a five fish limit
that weighed 18.63 pounds which was anchored by a beautiful
largemouth bass that weighed 5.60 pounds. Bill reported catching
their fish on a jig on main lake points fishing from the Dam
all the way up to Morristown. If you would like to buy some
land on this beautiful lake then give Bill a call because
he is the owner of Bill Burns Realtors in Morristown, Tennessee.
Traveling from Johnson City, Tennessee was the team of Rick
Cotton and Danny Carr. This team found the Angler's Choice
web site and found out about the trail in East Tennessee and
decided to come and fish their first Angler's Choice Tournament.
It was a great decision because they walked away with second
place with a 14.67pound limit of fish. Rick reported catching
a fish on his second cast of the day. What a great way to
start the day! Rick said that they caught fish all day long
on a crank-bait back in the creeks.
In closing Angler's Choice staff would like to thank all the
fishermen that came and fished. The average weight of each
fish weighed in at the tournament was almost three pound with
many of them being Smallmouth Bass. Please remember that the
next tournament will be on Douglas Lake on November 1,2003.
