In East Tennessee November normally
means the changing and the falling of the leaves, football
and sometimes even snow. But November 1, 2003 was 80 degrees
with plenty of sun. The great thing about this day was there
were no jet skis on beautiful Douglas Lake. With the sun coming
up over the Great Smokey Mountains and the fog lifting off
the water it left no one to wonder that yes there was a God
and he was a great artist.
Even though it was a beautiful
day to fish and be outdoors the fishing was tough but someone
always figures it out and this day it was the team of Randy
and David Collinsworth who came to the scales with a huge
bag of fish. Their bag of fish hit the scales at 15.49 pound
giving them their first Anglers Choice victory of the year.
The Collinsworth reported staying on the lower end of Douglas
Lake fishing back in the creeks using crank-baits and spinner-baits
to catch this big bag of largemouth bass.
Second place went to the father
and son team of Michael Hyde and Mike Hyde. This talented
team came to the scales with a limit of fish weighing 12.66
pound to give them a second place finish. The Hydes reported
catching their fish on crank-baits never leaving Flat Creek
the entire day
As I have been saying fishing knows no limitations and that
is why it is such a great sport. Last month we had a team
win the tournament on Cherokee that were 55 plus years old
and this month we had a woman catch the biggest bass of the
tournament. That right Joyce Cooper of Crossville Tennessee
beat all the men with a beautiful 5.13pound bass. Joyce reported
catching the fish on a rat-l-trap, but for some reason she
just couldn't remember what color. Way to go Joyce!
In closing Angler's Choice staff
would like to thank all the fishermen that came and fished.
Please remember that the next tournament will be on Cherokee
Lake on December 13,2003 I wonder if it will be 80 degrees
then?
