The opening tournament for the Arkansas' Angler's Choice region found 66 teams facing rain and falling temperatures. Fishing was better than in past years with 7/5 fish limits 102 fish weighing 236.87lbs with 44 teams weighing fish.
First place was a newly formed team of Mike Gueringer of Conway and Everett Rhoden of N Little Rock. They found fish on windy banks shallow using a ½ and ¾ oz red Rattle Trap. They reported catching 12 keepers culling to a wt of 14.36lbs to win $1810 plus the $1000 Bass Cat Bucks. Everett also collected a completive Edge Rod for 3 rd big bass of 4.39lbs.
Joe McClain and Keith James claimed 2nd with 14.49lbs they used a Norman DLN in the Chili Bowl color on rocks to collect $ 905.
Close behind in third were Brandon Rhoden and Sam Smothers who reported the same pattern as the 2nd place team to earn their $ 710 with a total of 13.83.
Terry Hopson and Teddy Bogard were fourth using a pumpkin-green rattle back jig to boat their 12.10 to get $650.
Lunker honors went to Donnie Cobb and John Wiles with a 4.83 to earn them $385.
