November 30th turned out to be a tough
day on Lake Egypt as strong steady winds complicated the
already tough bite on the lake. Recent cold fronts and unstable
weather over the week leading up to the event seemed to
put the fish in an uncooperative mood. The more than brisk
winds compounded the problem as it that much tougher to
find fishable water with keeper fish willing to bite.
The first place team of Danny Clark and
Mark Jelley both from Mulkeytown, Illinois showed why they
are known as the team to beat on the lake by taking home
first place honors for the second event in a row. The team
used a combination of spinner baits and jigs to catch their
fish. The fish were located in grass beds that were in water
depths ranging from eight to twelve feet. Their five fish
limit was anchored by the big bass of the day weighing 4.62lbs.
The team had a total weight of 14.23lbs earning them checks
totaling $1,535.00 for the day on the water. The team is
sponsored by Pyramid Acres. Great Job Guys!!
The second place team of Jack Doan and
Ben Doan from Desoto, Illinois had a similar approach to
the day as they concentrated on grass beds in water depths
of approximately ten feet. The baits of choice for the team
were Competitive Edge Little Big Man spinner baits and RC
lures jigs. The team brought five fish to the scales weighing
12.67lbs and cashed checks totaling $781.00 Jack and Ben
are sponsored by Competitive Edge Fishing and RC Lures.
Third place went to the team of Greg Berner
from Elkville, Illinois and David "Boo" Guill
of Royalton, Illinois. Greg and David fished grass beds
located in water depths ranging from twelve to fifteen feet
of water. The team used a Lunker Lure Ultimate Rattling
jig catch their fish. They received checks totaling $344.00
for the place and would like to thank the following sponsors:
Lunker Lure, Jackson Hewitt, Harrison's Sport Shop, Dunn's
Sporting Goods, Falcon Rods, Pyramid Acres and Triton Boats
