What a beautiful morning it was at Lake Powell on the 2nd of March, as 41 anglers assembled at the State Line launch ramp to begin what would be a day on the lake, it was a balmy 24 degrees with Light winds from the north west.
Fishing proved to be just about like the weather, Tough, water temps in the low to mid 40's these anglers had their work cut out for them, but as we all know, someone always gets them.
When the anglers started coming to the scales it was not suprising to see 1 fish sacks coming in, Tommy Yazzy / Dave Addy would take the lead after bringing in 2 fish for 3.20lbs they had the big fish kicker of 2.25lbs. looking pretty good for them for now, The team of Randy Okubo/Julie Duffin would bring to the scales a 4 fish sack to take the lead with 4.61lbs. Then the Monster sack would hit the scales, the team of Rick Thornsley / Dennis Cole weighed in a 5 fish limit the only one of the day for 7.45lbs. to take the win. Jim Bishop/Bill Carlquist weighed in Big Fish of 3.17lbs for a new Kistler Drop Shot Rod and Big Fish moneys of $460.00
Anglers were reporting that it was as tough as it gets out there, with almost every cast you had to clean the ice out of your line guide's at try not to fall in the lake from all the cloths you were wearing.
