Don Pedro was the site for the last of the season for US Angler's Choice Motherlode Division. This was really a great tournament and finish Thirty eight teams checked in and most were discussing the prospects of finishing well enough to make the top 20 for the TOC, A dual weigh-in night tourney tested the best of the best.
The weather was warm with light winds, but it was a new moon and the fishing was tough. The first half had Randy & Glenn Pierson leading, however the second half got tougher with the lead and most of the top ten shuffled around. As the sun came up John Chiarpotti(Sonora) and Joe Bruce(Copperoplous) added to there total to take first place with 26.30 landing them a great check for $1945. Jeff Eddings (Ceres) and Gary Madsen(Hughson) Grappled in the big fish prize with an 8.13 bucket mouth, upping their total to 26.22 good for 2nd place and a payday of $1408.
Another great night fishing team, Matt Cole & Brandon Tucker(both from Modesto) finished a strong third with 25.25 giving them a paycheck of $842. Dropping only one spot from the first half was Ben Hetrick(Turlock) and Steve Tosh Jr.(Ceres) with 2 solid limits for 23.92 and they netted $500. Also, congratulations to Steve on his very recent marriage . Finishing out the money field in 5th was Bryan Roland & Mike Bryant(both of Brentwood) with 23.63 and a good check for $410. These guys fished Pedro for the first time, great job.
Bob Rocha and Scott Burke(both from Oakdale) nudged into 6th place by .07 with 20.97 scooping up $340. Last in the money, but still one of the best motherlode teams is Randy and Glenn Pierson(both from Oakdale) bringing in 20.84 for 7th place and $280.
Anglers of the year honors went to Bob Bellin (Oakdale) and Steve Marino(Salida). The majority of the fish were caught on a variety of plastics drop shot 5 to 20 feet deep. Bub Tosh caught a good limit on Deep diving crank baits. Several good fish were caught on spooks and spinner baits. I would like to thank all the fisherman who supported my circuit, you are really super. Our TOC will be held on Lake Oroville with Bass Cat Boats equipped with Mercury Opti-Max motors going to 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place.
