Two day's of heavy rain brought D'arbonne Lake up 18 inches Friday night, and it continued to rise during the North Central Louisiana Anglers Choice tournament on Saturday. This was the first event of the year for the circuit and the 44 teams that fished had to fight 25 mile per hour winds, dropping temperatures and rain throughout the day.

When it was all said and done the team that has proven over and over that it can deal with adverse conditions on this lake, did it again. Henry Rogillio and Chris Gates used Henry's famous D'Arbonne jig to bring in a 5 fish limit weighing 19.33 pounds to take the 1st place check for $1475.00 and the Bass Cat Bonus Bucks Award worth $1000.00 toward the purchase of a new Bass Cat Boat.

Chad and Gerald Williams were close behind Gates and Rogillio with 5 fish that tipped the scales to 19.19 pounds. The Williams duo caught there fish in the mid lake area on spinnerbaits, and although most of the competitors said the bite was over early, Gerald said most of there big fish came late in the day. Chad and Gerald, fishing there first Anglers Choice tournament, took home a check for $735.00.

The third place stringer was caught by the team of Joe Sellers and Kelvin Thompson.
Like all of the other contenders they caught there fish on jigs and spinnerbaits. There 5 fish limit weighed in at 17.00 pounds and earned them a check for $660.00.

Larry Pardue served notice that he is back from shoulder surgery, by teaming with his nephew Shannon to post a 14.06 pound limit that was good enough to grab the fourth place check for $540.00. The team's weapon of choice was also the spennerbait fished in the mid lake area.

Rounding out the top eight teams was: 5th Stan and Scott Smith 13.66 pounds for $460.00. 6th Ken Lantrip and Chad Podey 13.00 pounds for $390.00. 7th Jereme Grant and Kirby Piquiet 12.67 pounds for $355.00. 8th Bill Atkins and Chris Morgan 12.15 pounds for $295.00.

The Big Bass of the event was caught by the team of Jeremy Grant and Kirby Piquiet on a spinnerbait. The 7.80 pound fish paid $440.00.

We would like to thank the owners of the D'Arbonne Lake Marina for there help by offering to let us use there restaurant for registration and the parking lot for our weigh in.
We encourage all of our anglers to support them.

Our next North Central Louisiana tournament will be March the 22nd on Lake Claiborne Registration and weigh in will be at the Pleasure Point Marina. We'll see you at the lake.
