The sixth stop on the North Central Louisiana Anglers Choice Tournament circuit saw thirty-two teams gathered at the Sterlington recreation area on the Ouachita River for the 6:45 AM take off. The river was in beautiful shape for this event with an unusual current flow for this time of year. The current along with cloudy rainy weather insured a good bite, which became evident at the weigh in as 21 of the 32 teams brought in a 5 fish limit.

Larry and Shannon Pardue topped the field with 5 fish weighing 15.42 pounds. Larry said that they had struggled all morning catching only small fish, when they made the move that paid off in a big way. " We moved at noon and began to catch some good fish on a jig, and even though Shannon fell out of the boat setting the hook on one we were able to cull everything we had."

Larry and Shannon collected the first place check for $1310 and the Bass Cat Bonus Bucks award for $1000 off the purchase price on a new Bass Cat boat.

Kenny Covington and Glynn Blankinship brought in a limit weighing 13.57 pounds for their second consecutive second place finish and a check for $655.

Finishing third were Bill Atkins and Chris Morgan with 13.12 for $536. Forth was the team of Henry Rogillio and Chris Gates with 11.53 for $430. Fifth were Steve Talley and Reagan Wilkerson with 11.12 for $355, and coming in sixth were Stacy Boggs and Monk Anderson with 10.55 for $270.

Ed Pittman caught big Bass of the event on a jig out of the D'Arbonne Bayou area. Ed's fish weighed 5.20 pounds and earned him a check for $320.

With only one tournament to go, this year's Anglers of the Year award is still up for grabs. Blankinship and Covington moved into the lead with 615.36 points just ahead of Scott and Stan Smith that have 612.21. Close behind the two leaders are Chad Pody and Ken Lantrip with 602.91 and Gerald and Chad Williams with 601.76.With the last tournament being held on D'Arbonne Lake, you can't count out the teams of Larry and Shannon Pardue with 599.41 and Henry Rogillio and Chris Gates with 595.01.

The teams from North Central Louisiana have also dominated the Travelers Division this year, with Ross and Steve Cagle currently in the lead with 744.00 points. They are followed closely by Mike Owens and EK Koserog with 725.35 and Monk Anderson and Stacy Boggs with 702.54.

The last tournament will be August 16th on Lake D'Arbonne and we will have our usual get together after the weigh in to eat and announce the final standings.
