Ken Bailey, the High Sheriff
of Claiborne Parish, and his posse Buckey Bailey, set
out to round up some outlaw bass on Lake Claiborne this
past Saturday. They found five of the mean critters
and were able to capture them without a shot being fired.
Using a variety of soft plastic law enforcement tools,
they rounded up the gang and brought them to the scales
of the North Central Louisiana Angler's Choice Team
Tournament. The sheriff presented the five bass to Judge
Dale Taylor who weighed the case carefully at 14.77
pounds, placed the 5 in the rehabilitation tank and
then released them back into the lake. Sheriff Ken and
deputy Buckey collected the first place bounty of $1470
for a job well done. Congratulations Ken and Buckey,
it's great to be able to kid around with you guy's but
we don't want to miss the fact that you won the third
event of the year over 33 of the best teams in north
Louisiana. Keep up the good work.
Finishing second in the tournament was the team of Rodney
Kennon and Steven Kennon. Rodney and Steven are from
Bossier City and were fishing their first event with
us. There 4 bass weighed an impressive 13.50 pounds
and included the Big Bass of the event at 5.29 pounds.
Their total winnings were $1090.
Mickey Fontana and Craig Kolb brought 5 fish to the
scales that weighed 12.97 pounds to finish third and
collect $600. Forth place, with 12.02 pounds, went to
Chad Pody and Ken Lantrip for $385. Lonnie Dean and
Gary Clements collected the fifth place check of $205
for their limit weighing 11.90 pounds.
In the Angler's of the Year race, Glynn Blankinship
and Kenny Covington's eleventh place finish was enough
to keep them in the lead. Craig Kolb and Mickey Fontanna
jumped to second with their strong finish and Larry
and Shannon Pardue moved to third just ahead of Trey
and B J Patton.
The next event will be on D'Arbonne Lake May 22. Tournament
headquarters and weigh in will be at the new pavilion
across from the D'Arbonne motel and Marina.
