Prvonozac
And Hladio Win West Branch
The Northeastern Ohio Trail headed back north for it's third
event of the year for a show down at West Branch Lake. With
the Walker Boys holding a slight lead in the Anglers of the
Year points standing over the team of Jamie Fabian and Cecil
Vandyne, it looked to be an exciting day. However, both teams
knew they could not count out local favorites in the team
of Nick Prvonozac and Rob Hladio. When the clouds cleared
(They did clear, right guys?), Nick and Rob was able to hold
off both of the top two teams along with the rest of the field
by catching their limit with a weight of 6.88 pounds and laid
claim to their first Anglers Choice crown. In doing so, they
cashed a check for $800.
"The Gamblers", Brett Pomeroy
and Jason Abbot gained some ground in the Anglers of the
Year race and cashed a check for the second straight event
by weighing in five fish for a total of 6.12 pounds. With
their second place finish, Brett and Jason walked away with
$460. and more importantly, now have the Walkers within
striking distance.
Three's a charm? Ask Al Masaitis and Bob
Easton, who sandwiched a third place finish at Mosquito
with another third place finish here at West Branch around
a disappointing finish at Salt Fork. I'm sure if you ask
Al or Bob they would say, one is the loneliest number, but
they would take it!
Both Charlie Walker and Bob Easton shared
Big Bass honors with two whopping, unbelievable, spectacular
1.94-pound lunkers! Charlie & Bob, I tried to make them
sound bigger !!
By the way the crappies were on, sounds
like we should have had a crappie tournament instead. Thanks
for the crappies Bob!
Okay guys, we are now headed back to Mosquito
Lake on June 13th, let's break this ten-pound barrier and
net some limits! The tournament site will be at the State
Park Ramp (Rt. 305) and will blast off at 7:00 AM.
Once again, the N/E Ohio Trail thanks our
local sponsors in: The Safety Group, Inc. and Cardida Corporation.
