Beaver Creek, AR
Morris And Catle Win Beaver Creek
Northwest Arkansas first bass tournament
felt the excitement of catching the big fish. The weather
did not cooperate with the fishers though. The water
temperature was about 43 degrees but the temperature
outside was much colder at start time it was 34. The
water clarity was about 3 feet. Start time was 7 a.
m. when the National Anthem was played. The wind was
blowing about 15 to 20 miles per hour and at 9:15 it
started snowing. By 11:00 a. m. we had about 7 inches
of snow, but most of the fisherman hung in for the long
haul. Dale Parker and Gene Purdy actually caught the
biggest fish at 35 lbs, but it was not a keeper. It
was a striped bass. Visibility was less than 50 feet.
The tournament lasted until 4 p.m. The biggest stringer
was 10.84 lbs caught by Randy Morris and Bubba Catle
with 4 fish. Big bass winner was Robbie Towner at 5.22
lbs. Not bad for a snow day. No pictures to send this
time no one wanted to hang around even for the trophies.
That will be done at the next tournament weather permitting.
Thank goodness for 4-wheel drive pick-ups or these guys
may have had to stay until the next tournament day.
All of the teams in this tournament should be congratulated
for the perseverance in this weather.
