August 2, 2003 was the date of the second Oneida
Teams Division on beautiful Oneida Lake near Syracuse, NY.
The sunny skies predicted for the day did not materialize
until late in the tournament, and the 5MPH southwest winds
that were in the forecast were in the 15-20MPH range. Typical
tournament conditions as usual!
Once again, 12 determined teams traveled many miles to compete
in this event. These guys and girls realize they are the nucleous
as this Oneida Teams division of Angler's Choice takes root.
They are an excellent caliber of angler's and 5-bass limits
are the norm for this group of dedicated fishermen.
This tournament's overall catch saw a few more largemouth
carried to the scales tham our previous tournament. The tournament
lunker was a 3.69 largemouth that was caught by the team of
Bill Sharp and Tom Bienkowski of New York. It earned them
$120 and a walnut plaque. Great job, fellows!
Third place was awarded to the team of Jim Moore and Greg
Nichols, also of New York. Jim and Greg chose to dilligently
work some mid-lake boat docks to coax 5 big bass into their
livewell weighing 13.66 pounds. They were presented plaques
and 2 $80 Shimano tackle systems courtesy of The Fishin' Shop
in Baltimore, Maryland. Congratulations Jim and Greg!
Our second place finishers solidified their lead in the Angler's
of the Year race. Pennsylvania's Rick Ash and Chris Swearer,
winners of our Oneida event last month, brought a limit of
bass to the weigh-in that totaled 14.82 pounds! In addition
to plaques, Rick and Chris were awarded a cash prize of $430.
Nice work, guys!
Our Champions on Oneida Lake are also from Pennsylvania. They
only recently became aware of Angler's Choice's new Oneida
Teams division.
Brian Smith and Lennie Smith were able to establish a consistent
smallmouth pattern and weigh in a beautiful 5-bass limit that
totaled 15.39 pounds. Included in their creel was a smallie
big enough to earn them an additional $50 bill as Brian and
Lennie claimed the "Smallmouth Bounty" with the
largest bronzeback of the tournament.
Our next event is just a week away this Saturday, August 9th
at Oneida Shores Park
