Big Bass

It was raining bass at Lake of the Ozarks! It was a dreary wet day on the lake for the 69 men and women participating in the second event of the season for the Lake of the Ozarks division of Angler's Choice. The slow steady rain started at take-off and did not let up the entire day. The fish did not seem to mind as 85% of the field brought limits to the scales with an overall bag average of 15.29lbs as a field! The average big bass weight on this day was a healthy 4.29lbs as a field and some teams reported culling through more than 20 keepers to find their best five. It was a great site to see big bag after big bag coming to the scales!

The first place team of Sam Dailey from Ellisville, MO. and Kevin Patton of Ballwin, MO. started the day off right with the fourth cast of the day producing a beautiful 5.96lb largemouth. On this day they would never travel any further than 4 miles from the launch site and used jigs in water depths ranging from one to ten feet to catch their fish. The team culled fifteen fish during the day with their best five tipping the scales at 21.13 lbs. The team earned checks totaling $1,724.00 for a great day of fishing at Lake of the Ozarks and would like to thank their sponsors: Nitro boats, Tracker Marine, The Fishin Hole and Mercury Outboards. Great Job Guys!!

The second place team of Rodney Bowersox from Versailles, MO. and Josh Swineburg of Camdenton, MO. concentrated their efforts in areas of the lake that were somewhat clearer and with this being said the water was still cloudy. Their fish were positioned extremely shallow as they reported catching most of their bigger fish in water less than one foot deep on windy banks. They used War Eagle spinner baits and blue smoke Gitzits to catch their fish. The team had had a total weight of 20.87 lbs and received checks totaling $960.00 for the place. The team is sponsored by: Lloyd Bell GM Center, Signature Signs, Market Share Publications, Charger Boats, Yamaha and Marty's Marine

The Third place team of Gary Foree from Kirkwood, MO. and Scott Floyd of Wentzville, MO. started the day off Carolina rigging in six to eight feet of water and caught two or three of their best fish doing this. Later in the day they switched to throwing custom-made spinner baits and buzz baits from Bulls Eye Bait and Tackle in water depths of one to three feet. The team culled their way through seventeen keeper fish with their best five seeing the scales reach 19.85 lbs. The team earned checks totaling $722.00 and third place plaques for their efforts on the water. The team is sponsored by: Bulls Eye Bait and Tackle and Tri State Trolling Motors.

The Lunker Lure Big Bass of the day went to Joe Hughes from Gravois Mils, MO. and Daniel Stark of Eldon, MO. The fish was located in about three foot of water on a chunk rock bank and weighed 6.36 lbs. The fish was caught on a yellow and brown Wiggle Wart and the team was fishing near the Dam area. The team also finished in fifth place with 19.08 lbs and received checks totaling $692.00
