It was a beautiful day on Lake of the Ozarks and as many know
this is not necessarily a good thing as the big cruisers,
yachts and cigar boats were out in full force. The beautiful
weather compounded with it being Mothers Day weekend made
for a rough ride on the lake. To escape the barge like rollers
our next two events will go out of Drake Harbor and after
this weekend many look forward to fishing these calmer waters
of the Lake. The lake is starting to get a little stingy as
compared to previous weights but still producing good stringers
as we head into early summer.
The first place team of Daniel
Stark from Eldon, Mo. and Joe Hughes of Gravois Mills, Mo.
fished between the nineteen and twenty mile marker on the
lake. They were using jigs and tubes in water depths ranging
from four to five feet. Most of their fish were caught behind
docks but they did also report catching several fish on main
lake channel points in the same four to five feet water depth.
The team's five fish limit tipped the scales at 18.69lbs and
earned them checks totaling $1,346.00 for the day. The team
is sponsored by: Solar Bat Sun Glasses, All Star and Osage
Tackle Co. in Laurie, Mo. Great Job Guys!!
Second place goes to the team
of Shawn Kowal from Linn Creek, Mo. and Casey McTaggart of
Troy, IL. They started the Carolina rigging and netted one
keeper doing so but found this bite to be going slow. They
switched to pitching tubes around the docks and started boating
quality fish. They had five fish limit that saw the scales
reach a total weight of 18.34lbs and earned checks totaling
$763.00 for the place. The team is sponsored by: Bass Cat
Boats, Ballentine Marine, Mercury Motors, Highway 42 Boats
and More and Pro Guide batteries.
Third place goes to the team
of Kevin Stonitsch and John Bledsoe both of Camdenton, Mo.
The team Carolina rigged secondary points in the backs of
coves in water depths of six to twelve feet. The area they
were fishing had really cloudy water conditions with a water
temp of 71 degrees and they reported the bite was extremely
slow. They did manage to bring five solid keepers to the scales
weighing 15.05lbs and earning them checks totaling $435.00
and third place plaques. The team is sponsored by: Laker Tackle
Lunker Lure Big Bass of the
Day goes to the team of Dale Burgman and Mike Malone The fish
was caught dragging a Lunker Lure triple rattle back jig on
a main lake point at about the twelve mile marker. The fish
was located in approximately eight feet of water and tipped
the scales at 5.11lbs and earning them checks totaling $370.00.
