In April
of 2003 the South Arkansas Angler's Choice Teams were
at Lake Erling for their third tournament of the year.
The team of Jeff Avery and Pat Henley won that event
with 21.32 pounds and the big bass of 6.90 pounds. This
past Saturday the South Arkansas Teams were back at
Erling for the third event of 2004 and when the final
weights were posted it was incredible how close Pat
and Jeff had come to duplicating their weights from
the previous year. The team from Eldorado pitched a
jig to the Cypress trees at the north end of the lake
and brought 5 fish to the scales that weighed 21.72
pounds for the win. Their stringer was anchored by a
7.25 pound bass that was the big bass of the event.
With the win Jeff and Pat collected a check for $1190
and also moved into second place in the Anglers of the
Year race.
Finishing
in second place was the team of Richard Perdue and Jake
Deeds. Jigs also accounted for their limit that weighed
in at a respectable 17.60 pounds and earned them a check
for $585. Jake and Richard's high finish propelled them
into third place in the Angler's Of the Year standings.
Steve McKennon
and his son Ryan finished in third place with 5 fish
weighing 15.85 pounds. The father and son team caught
their fish on Carolina rigs in 18 feet of water and
collected a check for $350 for their efforts. Jerry
Caskey and Paul Allen Finished forth with a limit weighing
15.35 pounds.
The next
South Arkansas Teams tournament will be on Sunday, May
30 at Lake D'Arbonne. There is another big tournament
on the lake Saturday, May 29 so we will make Saturday
a practice day. The tournament site is the new pavilion
off of highway 33. The D'Arbonne fish will be settling
into their summer patterns and some big stringers should
be weighed in.
