McKennon Team Wins at Earling Taylor, Arkansas
The South Arkansas Angler's Choice Teams visited Lake Erling on June 26 th for their 5 th event of the 2004 season. The weather was humid and cloudy with a threat of thunder showers which led to a good bite most of the day. Fish were reported caught on a wide variety of lures from Carolina rigged plastics to spinners, buzz baits, chug bugs, wobble worms, crank baits and Texas rigged worms. First place in the event went to the father and son team of Steve and Ryan McKennon. Their 5 fish limit weighed in at 16.14 pounds and was anchored by a 4.73 pound bass that was the big bass of the event. When presented the big bass and first place checks' young Ryan was asked if he had caught any of the fish on the winning stringer. His reply was, “ Daddy caught a limit early but I culled all of them but one on a Carolina rig.” Way to go Ryan.
Second place went to the team of Jake Deeds and Richard Perdue for their limit weighing 12.87 pounds for $440. Third place was Mike Meadows and Rodney Summers limit of 12.28 pounds for $180. The South Arkansas Teams will travel to Crossett Harbor on Felsenthall for the July 24 th event and will return there on August 21 st to end the season. The top Qualifiers will then go to the Arkansas State Tournament to be held the last week end in October on the Arkansas River out of Little Rock.
