Sunday, February 16, 2003 at 6:30 am fisherman headed out on Lake Livingston in search of five big bites and a 1st place check of $1350 and $1000 Bass Cat Bonus Bucks.
Despite 20-25 mph NE winds gusting to 35 mph and all day 40° temperatures Joe Ayers and Ronnie Puckett flipped Vibra-shaft spinnerbaits and Zoom lizards to get the right five bites that weighed 16.85 lbs. and landed them 1st place.
Robert Thierry III and David Hemple claimed 2nd place with a weight of 16.51 lbs. They caught their bag on spinnerbaits fished with American Rodsmith Rods. Robert and David took 1st place honors in the 1st event on Lake Conroe and have become proven contenders for the Anglers of the Year Award.
Charles Bebber and Ricky Johnson claimed 3rd place with a weight of 15.90 lbs. They flipped Texas rigged Zoom lizards using Team Daiwa rods and reels. Charles and Ricky also enjoyed an all day bite.
Big Bass honors went to the team of Jimmy Cole and Tony King. Jimmy caught the fish at 7:30 am fishing from their champion boat powered by Mercury Outboards. Jimmy and Tony were pitching spinnerbaits using Falcon Rods and Abu Garcia reels. This was the 2nd of 7 events. The next Southeast Texas Team event will be on Lake Conroe out of Stow-A-Way Marina on March 16, 2003.
