It was a chilly, breezy
morning that greeted 28 teams at the Lucky 7 Marina
in Des Allemands for the second tournament of the South
Louisiana Team Trail. Jackets were shed, though, as
the sun heated temperatures into the high sixties. Clouds
burned off and provided the anglers with a beautiful
day for fishing. Who would have believed it when the
day before winds were gusting in excess of 30 miles
per hour.
I've had many people tell
me they don't like fishing the spawn. You couldn't have
proven it at the scales. I have to say that in my previous
two years as director, I've never seen more gorgeous
bass. New members Dwayne Plaisance and David St. Pierre
brought in a whopping 18.35 pounds, with their big bass
tipping the scale at 5.12 pounds. Earning big bass and
first place they brought home $1535 for their efforts.
I'd say that's not bad for doing what you love for 9
hours. John Murr and Ivy St. Romain brought in an impressive
limit weighing 14.93 pounds which earned them second
place and $630. Ken Sherman and Brent Bonadona cinched
third place and $510 for their limit weighing 12.89
pounds. Not far behind in 4th place with $390 in their
pockets were Chris Waguespack and Jason Tastet with
a 12.84 pound limit. Michael Robert and Mike Gunter
took 5th place and $320 for their 11.81 pound limit.
As the anglers made their
way from the scales, they headed straight for the steaming
pot where Yvette was serving up plates of delicious
spaghetti. We even had dessert! What a great surprise
it was when Melanie Plaisance presented me with a birthday
cake.
Congratulations to all
who placed. Thanks go out to Yvette Granier and Jane
Poche who donated the ingredients for the spaghetti.
And also, thank you Melanie for making my birthday special.
I apologize for not having
pictures to post at this time. My batteries were dead!
I'm supposed to be having the pictures emailed to me.
See you next month at Doiron's
Landing. We're having alligator sauce piquante!
