1st Place Big Bass Winners

The torrential rains of a full week ended Saturday evening, providing a glorious day for our 5th tournament of 2004. If not for the wind making it difficult for navigating the Mississippi River, it would have been a perfect day. The majority of the 15 teams arriving at the Venice marina were newcomers to the Venice area. Nevertheless, one could sense the excitement building throughout the weekend.

Five fish limits was the rule of the day. Twelve teams brought nice sacks to the scales. David and Derek Mong turned on the heat bringing in a first place stringer weighing 16.78 pounds. I'm sure the $1017 they took home, plus the points they earned, made it worth the trip. Jake Impastato and Donald Duke, new members to Angler's Choice, took second place and $678 with a limit weighing 16.33 pounds. Their 4.25 big bass earned them an additional $150.

The venison spaghetti, donated and prepared by Keith Plaisance, was enjoyed by all. When all had a belly full, less than ½ of a gallon remained in the pot.

With two tournaments remaining, the race is on for Anglers of the Year, with a mere 12 points separating first and third places. I'll bet there will be a lot of scouting between now and June 27th, the day of our next tournament.

Congratulations to all who placed. Thanks to all who assisted with the tournament. I couldn't do it without them.

Until June,

Cayce
