| 1st Place - Bergeron and Bergeron |
South Louisiana Team Trails hosted it's 6 th tournament of the circuit at Big Bayou Blue Marina in LaRose. Upon my arrival at the marina at 4:00 a.m., the humidity and mosquitoes were already unbearable. It was a consensus that the predicted 40% chance of rain would certainly include the area we were in. By weigh-in time, everyone was wishing that it had. After days of thunderstorms, the searing heat produced a sauna.
Even so, everyone braved the heat up until the time for weigh-in with 9 limits being brought to the scales. Alex and LeeRoy Bergeron brought in the 1 st place stringer weighing 13.24 pounds. Even though they have retained fourth place position for the last several tournaments, they had never drawn a check. The $876 was a definite plus. Ritchie Friloux and Tommy Heurtin, also drawing their first check this year, bagged 2 nd place and $584 for their 12.58 pounds. Kevin Gaubert and Brad Friloux, being very consistent throughout the circuit, had the big bass of the day which weighed 4.89 pounds. They received $130 for their efforts.
It was just too hot to cook and too hot to eat. So, the guys had a choice of tuna salad, ham or roast beef sandwiches. They must have hit the spot because I didn't hear any complaints. Next month it's going to be Keith's famous steamed shrimp. I can't wait!
It's definitely a race for Angler's of the Year. I dare say there will be a lot of scouting taking place before our last tournament which will be held at Bayou Black Marina in Gibson.
Congratulations to all the winners, and good luck to all for our next and final tournament.
Until July,
Cayce
