Results

The weather was beautiful and the water temperature was in the upper 50's/lower 60's. This was our first tournament for the new Southern Colorado River Region which will consist of Lake Havasu and Lake Martinez. We had 22 boats going out that morning and as they arrived at the scales at least ½ of them came back with a limit, and almost all teams had fish. There were a total of 76 fish caught and released alive for a total tournament weight of 147 lbs.

1st place Dean Rojas - Justin Locatis 10.99 lb 5 fish
2nd place Mike Esmay - Larry Gerdes 10.96 lb 5 fish
3rd place Craig McCoy - Al Robinson 10.86 lb 5 fish
4th place John Galbraith - Jason Holland 10.48 lb ** 5 fish
** Big Fish 3.78 lb

The big fish of the tournament was caught by Jason Holland which netted him both big fish pots for a total of $620.00 and a new Competitive Edge fishing pole. As you can see above, this was one of the closest finishes in team tournaments I have seen. Dean Rojas and Justin Locatis won $1440 by fishing in the lake with crankbaits most of the day. The second place team of Mike Esmay and Larry Gerdes fished in the river all day with worms, topwater, and crankbaits and took home $885. Third place was won by Craig McCoy and Al Robinson for $380 however no catching info was given so we can only guess what baits they used!!! Rounding out the top 4 were John Galbraith and Jason Holland who caught the big fish drop-shotting in the lake while the rest of their fish came out of the river which gave them a grand total of $850. Congratulations to all of our fishermen.
