Mike Goesman and Stan Tyner take Southern Illinois field by storm.

1st Place
2nd Place
3rd Place

A Stormy day on Rend Lake yields nice weights. Rend Lake was the third stop of the season for the Southern Illinois division of Angler's Choice. Teams were greeted with high winds, heavy rains and lightning. Most of the area was put under a tornado watch and Rend Lake itself was under a severe thunderstorm warning during the middle of the day as the heavy storms rolled through the area. Even with the poor weather there were still many limits brought to the scales.

The first place team of Mike Goesman from Sesser, IL. and Stan Tyner of St. Louis, MO. started the day of on rip rap throwing Pop R's and crank baits and had there limit by 7:30am. They then headed north and flipped the bushes with a Lunker Lure Rattle Back jig looking for bigger fish. The team culled through 9 keeper fish during the day with their best five tipping the scales at 16.29lbs and earning them checks totaling $1,600.00 for the day. Stan and Mike are currently the trails top money winners after three events fished with total earnings of $3,129.00. The team is sponsored by: Dunn's Sporting Goods, Rend Lake Sporting Goods, Wayne's Props, Triton Boats, Jetta Marine and Mercury Motors. Great Job Guy's!!

The second place team of Rusty Rosenthal from Coulterville, IL. and Glenn Dalton of O' Fallon, IL. pitched Mad Dog spinner baits around bushes in shallow water of two feet or less to catch their fish. The team culled through eight keepers during the day to amass a total weight of 14.14lbs. Their bag was also anchored by the Falcon Rods/Dunn's “Big Bite” of the day weighing 4.59lbs. The team takes home checks totaling $1,348.00 for the stormy day at the lake. The team is sponsored by: Ranger Boats, Mercury Outboards, Nameoki Village Marine, Zebco/Quantum, Top Brass, Mustad, Gene Larew, Bandit Crank Baits and Mad Dog Spinner Baits

Third place goes to the team of Mitch Gosha and Rob Stucker. The team used jigs and tubes in shallow water around the bushes to catch their fish. They had a total weight of 13.97lbs and earned checks totaling $465.00 and third place plaques for the day. The team narrowly missed the second place position due to having a deeply hooked fish die during the day and costing them a penalty and the position.
