The news had been reporting the chance of heavy weather moving into the area. Teams were instructed to use extreme caution during the day if severe weather threatened. Shortly after take off strong winds and torrential rains moved into the Rend Lake area. The rain was so heavy at times that visibility was almost zero. The worst of the weather stayed to our west where numerous tornadoes touched down and baseball sized hail was reported. Sixteen boats toughed out the severe weather and were even able to coax a few keeper fish to come to the scales with them.

The first place team of Jack and Ben Doan pitch Competitive Edge spinner baits around the bushes to take the win. The team pitched the baits around bushes the entire day to come up with their three keeper bites. Jack stated that "you just had to keep beating them" the team sometimes pitched to the same bush three and four times before getting the strike. The team lost two keeper fish during the day because of the way the fish were buried in the buck brush. The fish were located in shallow water that was very muddy because of the heavy rains. Their total weight for the day was 9lbs even and the stringer was anchored by the big bass of the day weighing 4.39lbs. The team takes home $1,160.00 plus $1,000.00 Bass Cat bonus bucks taking their days earning to $2,160.00 The team is sponsored by: Competitive Edge Fishing Great Job Guy's!!!!

Second place goes to the team of Greg Berner and David "Boo" Guill the team used Lunker Lure spinner baits in the southern part of the lake to catch their fish. The teams fish were located in approximately four feet of water and were around lay downs and stumps. The team stated that they had to use a fast retrieve and bounce the bait off the wooden cover to draw reaction strikes. The team is sponsored by: Lunker Lure, Hawg Caller, Triton, Jackson Hewitt, Falcon Rods, Dunn's Sporting Goods and Harrison's Sport Shop

The third place team of Paul Seiler and his alternate Rob Seiler found a calm area out of the wind and pitched black and blue jigs to the buck brush the entire day. The team had four keeper bites and just could not get a bigger fish to the boat. They had one hooked around the five-pound mark, which just came unbuttoned as they tried to haul it out of the buck brush. The team is sponsored by: B&C Custom Rods and RC Lures
