Morgan
And Boydston Win S. Oklahoma Teams
James
Morgan, Marietta OK, and Buddy Boydston, Ardmore OK,
teamed up to win the first Southern Oklahoma Team event
of the season. Morgan and Boydston fished rocks in the
mid-lake area using a Bandit 200 series splutter crank
bait. Their bass came early in the day from four to
six feet of clear water. They had a five fish limit
weighing 8.15 lbs to capture the first place prize of
$925.00.
Previous
angler of the year David Williams, Broken Bow OK, and
Shannon Cogburn, Bethel OK, had the second five fish
limit brought to the scales, which put them in second
place for the event. Their five bass weighing 7.55 lbs
came from the north end of the lake out of shallow murky
water. Williams and Cogburn slow fished black and blue
mini-jigs and pumpkin Berkley power worms in the weeds,
and caught bass all day. They received $455.00 for their
second place finish.
Harold
Waller, Marlow OK, and Ben Garland, Chickasha OK, finished
in third place and had the big bass of the tournament.
They had two bass weighing 6.89 lbs with the largest
weighing 3.97 lbs. Waller and Garland fished the mid-lake
area, slow fishing a chartreuse Terminator spinnerbait,
in 50 degree stained water in the grass. Waller Machine
Inc. of Duncan OK sponsors Waller and Garland.
The
fishing was tough on Lake Murray for this time of the
year. The Lake had rose from recent rains and was about
a foot above normal. 43 bass were weighed in weighing
71.08 lbs with and average weight of 1.65 lbs. There
was two five fish limits brought to the scales.
U
S U.S. Angler's Choice Southern Oklahoma Teams would like

for the registration site and Guest Inn of Ardmore for
their headquarters: also KKAJ 95.7 FM for being the
official radio station for the Lake Murray event.
The
next Southern Oklahoma Team event will be April 6, on
Lake Texoma going out of Catfish Bay at the Gas Dock.
The Marina Mart will be the registration site, headquarters
will be at the Lakeside Motel (1-888-566-4442) and KKAJ
95.7FM will be the official radio station for the Texoma
event.
To
qualify for the U S U.S. Angler's Choice Team championship,
a team is required to fish at least five of the seven
tournaments in a season, so it's not to late to start
fishing the Southern Oklahoma Team circuit and make
the championship. The Team's championship has no entry
fee and first place is two fully rigged Bass Cat Boats
with a Mercury Motor, and a MotorGuide Trolling Motor.
With 2nd place receiving one fully rigged Bass Cat Boat.
The date of the Team's championship is Oct. 4-5, on
the Red River at Shreveport, LA.
