Harold
Waller, Marlow OK, and Ben Garland, Chickasha OK, won the
Sardis tournament June 1. Waller and Garland had five bass
weighing 17.03 lbs, which included the big bass of the tournament
weighing 6.45 lbs. They caught their bass all day on a variety
of baits, two on a wacky worm, one on a tube craw, and two
on a blue fleck power worm. They slow fished flooded grass
in the mid lake area in stained four to six feet of 79 degree
water. Their big bass was caught about 1:0clock. Waller and
Garland, sponsored by Waller Machine Inc. of Duncan OK, received
$740.00 for first place and $120.00 for big bass. Waller and
Garland moved into third place in the Angler of the Year race
with this win.
David
Williams, Broken Bow OK, and Shannon Cogburn, Bethel OK, finished
in second place with five bass weighing 9.64 lbs and received
$365.00. Williams and Cogburn caught fish all day in the Anderson
Creek area of the lake. They slow fished logs in muddy water
with a Berkley red shad power worm, which was good for four
keepers, and a Mann's MinusOne crankbait. Williams and Cogburn
are leading in the Angler of the Year race.
The
fishing was tough for bass over 14 inches, there was only
two limits brought to the scales. A total of 29 bass were
weighed in with a weight of 56.75 lbs. The average weight
per bass was 1.95 lbs.
I
would like to thank Kay Barton and the Sportsman's Lodge for
the
registration site and headquarters for the Sardis event and
KFOX 102.5FM for being the official radio station.
The
next team event will be June 29, on Lake Eufaula going out
of Eufaula Cove. Ken's Pizza will be the registration site.
Loyal Inn will be the headquarters, call (1-800-450-6576)
for rooms. KFOX 102.5 FM will be the official radio station
for the Eufaula event please listen to them for local news
and weather. I need you on the water at Eufaula cove and ready
to go by 5:30am.
Invite
your friends to fish the Eufaula tournament. Any team who
fishes the Eufaula event will be eligible to fish with Southern
Oklahoma Teams in the Oklahoma State Championship. The Oklahoma
State Championship will be November 1-3 with the first two
days on the Arkansas River at Muskogee OK and the last day
on Lake Tenkiller. The entry fee for the Oklahoma State Championship
is $200.00.
The
U.S. Angler's Choice Central Division Regional Championship will
be Oct. 4 -5.
